Gun Street Girls

There are so many good rock bands out there at the moment that it is tough for a rock band just starting out to get noticed. While Gun Street Girls have the added bonus of Dallas Crane fans desperate for a Dave Larkin fit, they also have the talent to make sure they are noticed. Their self-titled album is a good rock album that you feel lovers of Aussie rock are going to quickly warm to. The album kicks off with ‘How I Roll’ a good little rock track with Larkin doing his best Angus Young impersonation and some guitar chords that will have axe-wielders listening on in awe. ‘One Slip Away’ shows enough skill to show that Gun Street Girls aren’t just ‘another’ rock group while the catchy ‘The Mission’ is sure to become a fan favourite. ‘Right Under The Wing’ seems to take some style from Bon Jovi; the lyrics are great and you soon find yourself singing along to it, while ‘Half Way To The Grave’ doesn’t seem to shine but is still a great listen. ‘The May Disease’ sees Gun Street Girls slow right down but exposes some great songwriting skills will ‘Millennium Man’ is faster and makes you want to dance. ‘Slight Is The Hand Of Love’ once again shows off that songwriting ability with the poetic ‘Party In Hell’ is a track you’ll find yourself returning to over and over. ‘The Borderline’ then delivers some good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. Fan of Dallas Crane rejoice, Dave Larkin is back bigger and better in a new outfit. Gun Street Girls self-titled debut is a great rock album… I get the feeling it is going to stay in my stereo for weeks.
