There is good techno, there is bad techno, and this is very bad. To be fair, the second disc isn’t quite as reprehensible as the first, but music fans should still exercise extreme caution; for what we have here is a 144 minute long example of just how clichéd, shallow, and unimaginative electronic dance music can get. All the key elements are in place; facile lyrics sung by Idol rejects, moronic ‘uplifting’ piano chords, and completely witless drum programming. And let’s not forget the build-ups, but let’s face it, if you’re on the right drugs, the pedestrian crossing signal is enough to send a shiver down your spine. Sorry, no stars from me, Margaret.
