:: Various Artists - Hating Alison Ashley soundtrackVarious ArtistsThe film tells a portrait of the teenage life and of the usual rivalries, tensions, and embarrassments associated. The soundtrack typifies the young people’s spirit, to whom the film is pitched, and showcases some worthy musical talent, like Gabriella Cilmi (Don’t Tell Me) who displays such poise and verve in a very young voice. Other notable contributions come from The Dissociatives, Daniel Merriweather, The Waifs (Lighthouse), and Blink-182. Naturally, teen star Hilary Duff gets a slot to suit the film’s theme. We see the new song from Amiel (Green Eyed World), which is a catchy upbeat track and something well suited to the film characteristics, quite different from her usual style. The variety of the tracks demonstrates the diverse listening habits that epitomise teenagers’ thoughts and the album comes with a nice foldout poster. Overall, the CD is a worthy companion to the film and good to see some young Australian talent alongside well-known overseas talent. | ![]() |
