Film soundtracks are often a hit and miss affair (as are the films themselves) but on ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ (much like the movie itself), this soundtrack is an eclectic mix of the old and new and the weird and wonderful. From spoken word pieces and instrumental interludes to obscure tunes and classic songs such as Betty Wright‘s 'Shoo-Rah! Shoo-Rah’ or ‘Here I Am (Come And Take Me)’ by Al Green to ‘Magic Moments’ by Perry Como. Unfortunately there's too much of the former and not enough of the latter. A lot of this soundtrack is based around “mood” music to suit a particular scene, moment or character and while it's not all bad, it is extremely hard to fully appreciate the listen from beginning to end with so much “similar” type of music littered throughout. It is certainly different, I'll give it that much, but a soundtrack for the hardcore Hitchhiker fan only!
