The Hives

Their major label debut sees the tuxedo-wearing Swedes set a hot, cracking pace with their abrasive rock format. It’s a break-neck pace as they storm through the early tracks “Two-Timing Touch” and “Broken Bones”. One of the real highlights is “A Little More For Little You”, which slows down the tempo a notch to produce a more sedate track. I think this album will grow on listeners. The Hives is growing in confidence and their loud growls should be around for a while yet. Perhaps we’d like to see some more fun and less serious gestures in the next record.
