:: Hot Hot Heat - Happiness Ltd

Hot Hot Heat

Right from the start of Hot Hot Heat’s new album ‘Happiness Ltd’ you know you’re in for something special. You are guided slowly into the album, a synth intro building to the introduction of Steve Bay's distinctive vocals. From here the boys take you on a twisted and unexpected journey through the thoughts and sounds springing forth from their minds. The tracks on the album share a common thread, in that they all have that special Hot Hot Heat sound, yet each presents something that is independently intriguing. ‘5 Times out of 100’ is a quirky tune that comes across as unleased and unruly. It’s a little bit rock, a little bit punk and completely addictive. ‘Harmonicas & Tambourines’ bring home the 80’s flavour in a big way, starting off with an electric drum beat then light speeding into 2007 with a hand clapping chorus. ‘Outta Heart’ is where the band takes a quiet moment to reflect, and the result is a heart felt indie ballad. ‘Happiness Ltd’ has a definite 80’s flavour, but also manages to sound fresh on the ears. The tracks cover all the bases, and will suit people who like a variety of moods. This album will make you dance, it will make you sing, and it will help you just chill out. It really is an all out, good time pleaser.
