Ex-Waikiki band members Juanita and Joel Stein lead the charge with this UK-based band. Juanita first came on the Australian music scene a few years ago with her sublime voice being the noticeable attraction. The blues-laden, rock sounds of Howling Bells are well demonstrated because of the melodic vocals and capable musicianship of the band. Songs like ‘Setting Sun’ and ‘Velvet Girl; are immense in structure whilst ‘Wishing Stone’ appeals well for its extensive guitar riffs. The previous music life has probably been a godsend in providing the band with the experience to produce some intense and uplifting music. This record should set up the band for future success.
