:: iOTA - La Caravana

iOTA

He remains a singer-songwriter of unique originality, willing to explore the upper burdens of life’s experiences. Always a compelling live performer, iOTA plays an even hand in the quality of the songs and production; thereby there aren’t any standout songs. Each track brings its own reward to the listener. I’ve had a few listens and one can extract something tangible each time. He uses strings to dramatic effect, as well as the lap steel guitar. He conjures up a Spanish voice (spoken word) in “Lighthouse” – in keeping with the album title Spanish feel. Noteworthy listens on the album include “Pockets”, which has been receiving good airplay. It’s multi-layered and flies in your face with attitude. “Full Moon” is another that appeals with the full groove of instruments working cohesively to produce something to which you can singalong. “Scars” contains a smoother, calmer approach. Again, iOTA shows his versatility and instrumental talent. There is the blues, the rock, the funk, and it adds up to a most tangible set. The CD is recommended listening.
