:: Various Artists - Inner City Beats Vol.2

Various Artists

This is the second in the Inner City Beats catalogue and, again, one wonders why it composes all Australian unsigned acts because the standard is so good amongst the DJs and producers presented. Of a varied style, there are some very capable offerings that, like the 1st compilation, should harvest some interest. It’s not hard to like tracks like “Longer Days” by Karmaclyde and “Autobarn” by Bad Machines. The sampling and arrangements are precise and vocals are engrossing. Generally, you get a fair assortment - breaks, lounge, drum ‘n’ bass, house, with various layers at times. It isn’t easy to highlight one track from another, but it’s worth mentioning other notable efforts from Debasa and Stickleback – both provide a wicked track full of oomph and vitality. Foghorn can be well pleased with this second instalment as a way of showcasing this “unheard” Australian talent. There is some good stuff here waiting for attention.
