:: In The Grey - Innocence Is Running Out

In The Grey

Hailing from the Central Coast, rock five-piece In The Grey have worked hard to get where they are, there‘s no denying that. What I will deny is their music. Their debut LP 'Innocence Is Running Out’ and their brand of melodic rock (and at times pop-punk sound) is predictable, uninteresting and stale. They don‘t bring anything new, original or exciting to the plate. Any other band making similar noise could have their name slapped on the side of this box. It's just a package. The album feels void of life and energy and lacks genuine passion, which is a pity because despite the bagging I think In The Grey have talent, they just need to break the shackles of this genre and burst free from the boundaries invariably placed upon it. There are hints at what could come - 'See This World You Made’, ‘The Lost Song’ plus the instrumental tunes of ‘Intermission’ and ‘……..’ – if they apply this theory but in the meantime they'll continually be lumped alongside other acts who are uninspiring and less interesting than them.
