:: James Blunt - High

James Blunt

From the UK, James Blunt began his musical career late, with much of his youth and early twenties spent within the confines of the British Army. The son of a British Colonel, Blunt served time as a peace keeper in Kosovo and, more recently, as a guard for the Queen. With his guitar never far from his side, Blunt penned a large number of his recent album, from which one of these tracks is taken, during his time in Kosovo. With vocals hinting of Barry Gibb, and maybe a touch of Jeff Buckley, Blunt offers two acoustic based melodies. The single ‘High’ is an emotionally charge slower ‘balladesque’ offering. Trudging a well worn path, one that has led to success for artists such as David Gray and our own Pete Murray, Blunt serves up nothing necessarily new but nonetheless very enjoyable. With a gentle acoustic tone, rugged good looks and a catchy chorus ‘High’ is sure to win Blunt an adoring female fan base and plenty of radio airplay.
