:: James Morrison - UndiscoveredJames MorrisonIn a word, this album is funky. However one word does not seem enough to do it justice. Other words that come to mind are current, timely and talented. Nobody can deny there are strong similarities between James Morrison and other singer songwriters, for example John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw or Josh Kelly. What stands Morrison apart is his musical edge. He may be similar to the other guys but he’s not the same. His fantastic gravely voice works beautifully with his particular style of urban jazz/soul. His music has merit; it’s meaningful and it’s clear that Morrison is not afraid to communicate his emotions. What makes ‘Undiscovered’ so special is its raw quality. It’s not overproduced and instead possesses all the elements of a great acoustic album. Tracks such as ‘This Boy’ and ‘The Last Goodbye’ are standout examples of this quality, and as the music hits your ears the experience is almost tangible. I think James Morrison had better prepare himself, as it is unlikely he will remain undiscovered for much longer. | ![]() http://www.jamesmorrisonmusic.com |
