:: Jax Panik - Cigarettes and CinnamonJax PanikMy first impression of this album when I saw the cover was simple – this dude is either a sane man with a penchant for Ned Kelly inspired beards and homeless style attire or he’s full-blown nuts (or both?). After giving it a listen I realised that yes, Jax Panik is a little bit crazy, a little bit cheeky – and this is exactly what makes his music so appealing. His debut album ‘Cigarettes and Cinnamon’ is a testament to what a one-man music machine can do when he puts his mind to it. The hyper-quirky melodies evoke memories of getting to the end flag in Mario brothers, completely complimenting Jax’s tongue-in-cheek look at life riding his lyrical roller coaster. Tracks that stand out include ‘Don’t wanna dance’ (it makes you want to do the exact opposite whilst giggling at the brash lyrics), and ‘Russian Roulette’ with its energetic bounciness. From the look of his Myspace, I was right on. This gentleman is eccentric to say the least. | http://www.myspace.com/jaxpanik |
