:: Jewel - Goodbye Alice In Wonderland

Jewel

This was always going to be an interesting time in the career of Jewel. She emerged strongly in the mid-1990s and continued to flourish until a change in direction with her previous album, “Jewel”, in 2003. That didn't sell as well as her previously high flying days and left her under criticism, even in her own country. Was she going to revert to what she'd done well previously? Mind you, her previous experiment wasn't a total failure to my ears. She wanted to venture into a livelier poppier sound, but her fans didn't react positively enough. This new album showcases Jewel's traits that have endeared her to millions around the world. There is the warmth, melody and purpose, filled with pop-folk sensibility. It is full of that trademark Jewel heart and tenderness, and a return to her favourable form in the minds of her adoring public.
