:: Juno - Music From The Motion PictureJunoI was immediately hooked from the very first listen and I hadn‘t even seen the film until after I heard this soundtrack! A real mish-mash of songs made up from the obscure, the old, the eclectic and some glorious covers. It is what a soundtrack should be, great music and which is played in the background; not dominating or taking over the scene. With songs from The Kinks ('A Well Respected Man’), Buddy Holly (‘Dearest’), Belle & Sebastian (‘Expectations’), Sonic Youth (‘Superstar’), Cat Power (‘Sea Of Love’), The Velvet Underground (‘I'm Sticking With You’), Mott The Hoople (‘All The Young Dudes’ - which was penned by David Bowie), and The Moldy Peaches (‘Anyone Else But You’), it never sounds flat or feels like a chore. All nineteen songs will sustain on any listen. Artist Kimya Dawson (one-half of the Moldy peaches), provides six songs and her voice and quirky tunes fit this compilation perfectly. Cat Power provides a beautiful rendition of ‘Sea Of Love’ while Sonic Youth turn out a great cover of ‘Superstar’, which was a big hit for the Carpenters. And it‘s this inter-melding of fine covers, quirky tunes and original songs that make the 'Juno Soundtrack’ it such a great compilation album. Even if you haven't seen the film (which I suggest you go and see anyway), this is a cool mix of songs to have among your collection. | ![]() |
