Kate Alexa arrives with her debut album, Broken & Beautiful. It comprises an abundance of pop tunes; already several Top 40 singles have shown the infectious nature of Kate’s musical development. Songs such as “Always There”, “My Day Will Come”, “All I Hear” and “Somebody Out There” have made their mark. Her overall craft and songwriting will continue to develop as she gains greater confidence, but this is a good start. Kate talks of loss, heartbreak, conflict, and delicate subjects. What Kate needs to do now is to enhance the strength of the songs and naturally her own ability as a performer. Songs will need to show the necessary quality to deliver the knockout blow to media and consumers. This will happen through her own maturity and experiences. She has told me previously that she listens to many artists and draws lots of influences. I’m sure that she can control her destiny in a rewarding way and she deserves much encouragement. Her musical journey has only just started.
