:: Kate Bush - Aerial

Kate Bush

For many the name Kate Bush inevitably brings to mind her dramatic 1978 classic Wuthering Heights. However being a committed fan of Kate Bush is a tumultuous feat, with her retirement from touring in 1979 and the release of only eight albums since that time – the last being 12 years ago. Luckily, Aerial, a double CD - one titled A Sea of Honey and A Sky of Honey - delivers all the Kate Bush fan could want. The opening track ‘King of the Mountain’ comes in with her distinctive vocal madness over jerky keyboards and guitars. The first disc has many climaxes particularly the beautiful piano ballad Mrs. Bartolozzi, where Bush manages to create exquisiteness singing about a washing machine. The second disc isn’t quite as lush, but has potential and even features Rolf Harris (yes, Rolf Harris) on ‘An Architect’s Dream’. One of the most appealing things about Kate Bush is her coverage of genres. Aerial transports you from sonic downtempo beats to pop elements through to haunting ballads with the greatest of ease.
