:: Katy Rose - Because I CanKaty Rose What an exceptional talent, at just sixteen years of age! Katy brings a youthful exuberance yet shows the maturity of a seasoned singer. At her age, she leaves many well-experienced singers behind as she captivates with a style of her own. Blending various vocal influences in something well-gelled and substantial, you can’t help but be besotted with the way she shows a gifted variation of vocal strengths, especially in the first five tracks of this album. You may like your Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff, but Katy already surpasses them for greater depth and texture. Several well-written songs create a lively blend of that teen angst and mature soulful sounds. Amongst the highlights are “Glow”, “Catch My Fall” and “Vacation”. With Shirley Manson of Garbage being one of my favourite female rock singers, I can see a little of her in what Katy is doing, especially in the song “I Like”. Katy is not afraid to speak her mind and is a welcome change in the world of teenage pop. |
