:: Keith Urban - You’re My Better HalfKeith Urban“Car door slams, it’s been a long day at work, I’m out on the freeway” and with that short lyric we are into the latest single from mega Platinum-selling Caboolture [that’s North of Brisbane] exppat contemporary country artist Keith Urban. A man who is far more recognisable in the United States than in his homeland. It seems Keith will continue to top country charts, his last album [2002’s Golden Road] graced the charts for over 100 weeks. ‘You’re My Better Half’ is lifted from Keith’s third album 2004’s ‘Be Here’. On this track he does not stray too far from the mark that has bought him his huge success in the past. A gentle finger picked acoustic guitar intro, upbeat drum rhythm and catchy chorus lead smoothly into a toned down bridge and then back into the chorus complete with trademark Keith Urban vocals and harmonies. It may seem a pretty standard formula; however Keith’s genuine, heartfelt, likeable nod to the woman/women in his life makes this track work. It’s hard to deny as Keith happily and unashamedly launches into “Baby you’re my better half”. Of particular note is Keith’s guitar playing, with every release it seems his confidence and ability improves. It’s not quite ‘Nuevo alt country’ but nonetheless this single is sure to win him some new fans and keep the existing one’s very satisfied…and for those so inclined - this one is already available as a ringtone. | ![]() |
