Kid Confucious

From the moment I heard the very funky, retro feel of the all too brief opening track ‘1977 (Part 1)’, Kid Confucius immediately struck a chord with me. The cheeky beats and rhythms infect you from the get go, forcing you to move your feet and shake those hips - the best example coming in the form of the lively ‘Moment’ with its sassy horn section and energetic vibe. Sounding like a throwback to the greats of the past in full flight, such as Stevie Wonder or Donny Hathaway, in ‘Stripes’, the group‘s second album, Kid C has delivered a knockout record. It's positive, upbeat… infectious! Filled to the brim with 16 glorious, absolutely funk-ti-fying sounds and grooves, it's one fine, fun album. They mix it up with slower tracks like 'August’ through to the sexier ‘In Your Place’, which both work well alongside the more urgent, dance-mad songs such as ‘All The Way Down’ or ‘Sky Is The Limit’. Whatever style you dig or jive to, Kid Confucius and their funky new album ‘Stripes’ is a must have CD to truly round out any worthwhile collection.
