:: Kids At Risk - Kids At RiskKids At RiskWhen people say Sydney four-piece Kids At Risk are a band to watch in 2010 they certainly aren’t joking, and as a fan of the 90s BritRock scene I have to admit that I have totally fallen in love with this talented groups debut self-titled EP. Kids At Risk really do pull out every weapon in their arsenal with this EP despite the fact it only contains four singles. The BritRock sound that everyone is comparing these guys to shines right through on ‘I Am A Fire’, a brash catchy track that you can see doing extremely well in the British market. Second track ‘Sugar’ reveals a smoother side to Kids At Risk. So smooth in fact that the only thing I can liken them to is Aussie band The Mavis’s… there is little wonder that ‘Sugar’ has become a single as it is one of the most perfect pieces of indie rock that you are ever likely to hear. ‘Structures On The Moon’ is more smooth pop rock and makes great use of Larissa Rate’s backing vocals. Final track, ‘Biggest Fan’ takes on a persona of its own. It opens with pure grunt and at times shows a punk brashness. This is one fine debut EP and I am truly on board the Kids At Risk bandwagon. This goes close to be a perfect EP and I can see that these guys are going to be huge. | ![]() |
