:: King Kapisi - 2nd Round TestamentKing Kapisi The big man from New Zealand is one of their premier artists in the hip-hop musical craft and he returns to Australian listeners with a solid self-reaching effort to espouse his credentials. You’ll remember his album from “Savage Thoughts” album of a couple of years ago. This was am indication that he had much to offer. He continues the process in a more rounded way, drawing in different features, including jazz, reggae and soul. He starts off the set well with the opening couple of songs, “World Premiere” and “Sound System”, the latter having Teremoana Rapley on guest vocal. There is a cohesive flow and dynamic throughout and his attitude is strong and relenting. He likes to indulge and say things as he sees fit. The South Pacific flavour will appeal to many in the hip-hop stream and he engenders delicious melodies and definitive energy. Note the collaboration with Che Fu on “U Can’t Resist Us”. You may have seen the interesting video for it too. This set should be viewed as full of energy and diversity, and, accordingly, looks a winner at the live performances. |
