Taken from Kitto’s second album Precious Junk, the raw and hard-edged single Catalina Dreaming is the type of cool, forceful and gutsy track women musicians should be recording to break away from traditional softer styles so synonymous with female stars. The Melbourne-born guitarist, singer and songwriter has to be admired for her talent and for opting for an aggressive and appealing sound. As well as producing the single, Kitto experimented and chose to record the single in Stockholm, Sweden. The result is a dynamic grunge, alternative rock track with an infectious beat and a fantastic chorus that sounds higher pitched vocals compared to the rest of the song. There is clearly great vocal variation.
