‘Cinderella Sings the Blues’ is the debut EP from Queensland blues artists Lana Martino-Smith. Lana is quite experienced in the local blues/jazz circuit and drawn on her vocal prowess to compile an enterprising set of tracks. There is the typical laid-back blues vibe but also a poignancy and determination in her lyrics that resonate confidently to the listener. It is a seven track set of worthy tunes and she is capably backed by blues musicians. Lana assisted in the production process alongside acclaimed Brisbane producer/engineer Jeff Lovejoy, and the crispy and effective sound is notable. Lana provides the class and sophistication required to be a good jazz and blues performer and we look forward to hearing more from her and seeing her outside of Queensland in the short-medium term.
