Already certified Gold by the Australian Record Industry Association this is the fastest selling record of his career. With fourteen albums under his belt he is one the pioneers of Australian country music. ‘Diamantina Dream’, a slow country ballad and ‘The New Bush’ the first released single off the album are real upbeat toe tappers. Incidentally, Sherbet lead singer Daryl Briathwaite joins Lee on the title track. His many journeys are now evaluated into what he sees as a “new bush” as distinct from the traditional Australian “old bush”. The album doesn’t have that strong twang that some country artists still use. However, many country artists are now moving into a more mainstream area. Maybe this is a reason why The New Bush has been a success for Kernaghan.
