:: Lillian Thoms - Hit The GroundLillian ThomsLillian Thoms is a Melbourne singer-songwriter full of energy and charisma. She has indulged in various facets of the music and film industry and now has set her sights on launching a singing career. This album is just a step in the task of winning over a solid audience who can appreciate her fresh, dynamic approach. The versatility in her voice allows forays into the pop, rock and laidback country styles. Lillian engaged the services of various well-known people to play on the songs behind the scenes, and had the input from producer/musician James Black and Jamie Durrant to help in the direction. There is still a rough edge or two that need some fine-tuning and it shows on a couple for tracks. However, there is much to be encouraged by. There are only a couple of uptempo tracks, ‘Play’ and ‘Easy’, which reminds of the style of Shania Twain but not indicative of the overall pattern on the album. The majority of the tracks is slow and introspective and creates a darker, brooding atmosphere. I am sure that these songs will be even more expressive in a live show and demonstrate Lillian’s personality. This is a good debut for this indie performer and is something on which to build. |
