:: Lior - Tumbling Into The Dawn

Lior

Lior enters a new stage in his fine career with the release of his third studio album ‘Tumbling Into The Dawn’, one which was written across different locations between Sydney and Melbourne. You could call Lior a journeyman as he has been a busy independent showman over at least ten years and he represents a rich heritage of distinctive sounds and musical culture. He is one of the country‘s unsung heroes, in many ways, being able to deliver earnest, sublime hooks, heartfelt melodies, with his rich voice. This album may not have that “killer” song but there is much integrity and interest contained throughout the set. Again, the variety is intriguing. Songs like 'Driftwood’ are effective in the simplicity of style and then something like ‘If I Lost Your Love’ shows a song that builds tempo with backing vocals. The instrumentation is tight and polished - Lior takes great care in the overall production and allows for the style shifts that doesn‘t make the album disjointed. Listen out also for the stark contrasts in the two long-titled tracks, 'I Thought I Could Sing On My Own’ and ‘They Don't Know What's Going On’ - two emotionally different songs, but very classily done. I am sure that all these songs will grow on listeners and be enjoyed on the live stage. Lior has produced another enjoyable album - one that speaks for itself in a true independent sense.
