Lior – Doorways Of My Mind is a collection of tracks recorded live at the Northcote Social Club in Nov 2005. The vocals are breathtaking [with a range that respectfully touches at Jeff Buckley] along with equally inspired acoustic based musicianship. The most interesting and lively tracks are the ones which venture away from those of the traditional singer songwriter and find Lior exploring his own world and Middle Eastern Heritage…it is exciting to hear him letting go as at the finale of ‘Building Ships’ and ‘Avinu Malkeinu’ or to hear the pop flavored harmonies in ‘Sitting with a stranger’…..furthemore, it is testament to his rising popularity that when ‘this old love’ is played the receptive audience sings along with every word.
