:: Little Barrie - We Are Little Barrie

Little Barrie

Just as I had hoped, this full-length debut follows very effectively from the EP released late last year and we can breathe the blues-rock abilities from Barrie Cadogan and his band mates, Wayne Fullwood and Lewis Wharton. I am impressed with the slick production and versatility in the trio’s ability in escalating from a cruisy, funky foray to some blistering intensity at times. Several good songs throughout indicate the depth of their work and they will grow in appeal. Barrie’s vocals are raw and gutsy at the right times and some of the accompanying arrangements carry a strong conviction. I think the guitar purists will notice and appreciate the efficiency of the work, combining Hendrix-influenced riffing to an organic lounge groove and smooth soul. I think this album should grow on people as it marks a more than commendable package of music. There will be a time where the band will switch away from the heavy 60s blues-rock element and interesting to see what they can forge for themselves. One thing is true however, and that is the guitar talent of Barrie Cadogan is something to behold. He is rich in styles and sure to make an impression amongst keen music lovers in the future.
