:: Liz Stringer - Pendulum

Liz Stringer

Melbourne based original acoustic contemporary roots artist Liz Stringer’s humble origins are simple, and have provided the perfect grounding for her musical growth. Following up on her much-admired debut independent album ‘Soon’ in 2006, Stringer’s second release, the refined ‘Pendulum’ highlights not only her vast talent but contains a unique blend of folk, blues, and bluegrass, all played out on guitar, five-string banjo, blues harp, and lap-steel guitar. A difficult genre to place, she has made some beautiful, tender songs that also pack a punch when required. Simply, Liz harnesses a sublime ease and depth, which naturally draws the listener in. Pendulum is rich, varied and solemn yet is beautiful, inspiring and enjoyable. Some of the better songs found on ‘Pendulum’ include the warm feel of ‘All I Have for You Tonight’, ‘Baby Jane’ and the more uptempo country groove of ‘You Say So Many Things’. An ardent promoter of independent music, Liz, has recorded and produced her albums without major label backing. On the back of this excellent album, I doubt very much it will be long before the majors begin wooing her as the potential for greatness is all there.
