:: Lone Catalysts - Good MusicLone CatalystsLone Catalysts are J Sanders and J Rawls. No fake alter egos, no flashy diamonds and big rims. They are all about the music. Their first album, ‘Hip Hop’, generated serious street cred and now they are back with ‘Good Music’ and the news is all good. With ‘Good Music’, LC expand on their musical palette of soul/jazz and blues infused tunes by adding a richer layer of live instrumentation. This results in a sound that is consistently more groovy and soulful than Hip Hop. ‘La La La’ is beautifully funky and ‘Once Before’ with its moody ambience is reminiscent of Reflection Eternal. On the lyrical tip LC are solid conscious emcees who deal with themes of reflection, education and death. The latter theme is central to the powerful ‘Ones We Miss’, a tribute to Jam Master Jay, Gregory Hines and countless other deceased artists. Good Music is another creative leap for Lone Catalysts. The beats are funkier and the lyrical vibes are still strong. It is another consistent release that has no problem in living up to its name. |
