:: Loudlife - LoudlifeLoudlifeThis is another new band from New York to which I have been recently introduced. Loudlife is fronted by the powerful, passionate vocalist Lorraine Ferro, who I have heard of previously. She has won several songwriting honours and been associated with many good artists. With Loudlife, she is joined by a group of talented musicians and it’s not hard to notice the influence of an extremely good guitar player. Lead guitarist, and co-songwriter with Lorraine, Geoff Sobel injects his own thick riffs to provide an intense and dynamic sound. The spectre of the 1970s returns as a chief influence of Loudlife with deep lyrics and some explosiveness in the production, which is incidentally handled by Teddy Kumpel (worked with Nine Inch Nails and Spin Doctors). The noticeable thing upon a few listens to this CD is the chemistry between the band, particularly Lorraine and Geoff. They make a dynamic hard rock combination with the controlled ferocity of vocals and guitar merging powerfully. The supporting bass and drums add their weight to form a strong, gritty sound. This album also showcases the band’s versatility in light and heavy rock and it is surely a terrific live act to witness. As this album was recorded in 2005, we’ll watch Loudlife’s development with interest. | ![]() http://www.loudlifeband.com |
