:: Lynchmada - The Other MexicoLynchmadaFounded as far back as 2002, Queensland based metalcore act Lynchmada have been making a name for themselves up and down the coast with some fairly high profile gigs in support to Lamb Of God, God Forbid, Against and Sunk Loto. The five piece act have also attracted quite a bit of attention with their recorded output too. Their independently released ‘Stress Therapy’ single from 2002 and 2004’s ‘The Biggest Disappointment Is You’ EP both received positive responses from both fans and the press alike. Three years later and Lynchmada are back with their debut full-length effort ‘The Other Mexico’, which is also their first release for newly founded label RabbitBird Records. With some radio distortion and distant spoken words of Spanish, Lynchmada emerge with plenty of aggression with ‘One Last Time’. The production (Handled by the band themselves, while noted mixer Lachlan Mitchell producing the final results) is notably stronger than the band’s former releases, while on a musical level, Lynchmada have definitely matured. Aside from their obvious metalcore sound, Lynchmada have also managed to slip in some subtle modern thrash into the mix, with the title track ‘The Other Mexico’, ‘A Sad Case Of Poison’ and ‘The Ivory’ adding a little more diversity to proceedings. There’s also a lot of acoustics and clean vocals utilised throughout, which gives the album some depth and character, with ‘Glass’, ‘Thorns’ and the haunting closer ‘Shotgun Harlots’ the definite standouts. On previous releases, Lynchmada showed promise of what was surely to come in time. And on the strength of what’s on offer on ‘The Other Mexico’, it’s obvious that the band’s time has definitely arrived. | ![]() http://www.lynchmada.com |
