Another new act from Sydney has emerged in 2008. This is MA's debut album and they've already been well received in parts of their home territory. The duo (Victoria White and Drew Crawford) form the core ingredients as vocalist and keyboardist respectively. The act is augmented for their live shows by drum, bass and saxophone. The recording process displays various instruments that provide the album's identity and purpose. Drew Crawford has done a very capable job in extracting the arrangements for the right sound. These are subtle and well structured. The sweet, gorgeous vocals by Victoria White provide the spark. Her honest and delicate delivery ooze appeal in the dynamic atmosphere of the music. It's great to listen to her singing for the first time. In a year of discovering new female voices, Victoria's performance on this album is excellent. The songs are probably better suited for a particular laidback and reflective time and place. There's much to look forward to with MA.
