:: Madonna - Remixed & Revisited

Madonna

Following on from the greatest publicity stunt of recent times (who could forget that kiss?), and no doubt associated with the poor reception to her latest album ‘American Life’, the Madonna camp has released an EP of remixed and previously unreleased tracks. With the exception of ‘Nothing Fails’ and ‘Into The Hollywood Groove’ feat Missy Elliot, ‘Remixed and Revisited’ tends to be one solely for the fans. Comprising of dull and uninspiring beats, and songs that communicated far better in their original form, the EP imparts nothing new, a rare occurrence for an artist such as Madonna. However, it is partly saved by a single redeeming element, one that springs from an entirely unexpected place. The Britney kiss, commonly known as a publicity stunt, has been bought to the fore again through the inclusion of the musical performance that accompanied it. Hearing the song on its own, completely free of the infamous lip lock, proves that Madonna has lost none of her artistic and musical prowess. The EP therefore offers the listener this if nothing else; to hear what should have been heard at the MTV awards, had the whole thing not been overshadowed by a two second orchestrated flight of fancy.
