:: Mae - Singularity

Mae

For an act that say they were inspired by great bands like Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine, while creating ‘Singularity’, these guys lack all the anger, venom, power and influence those bands ever had. There’s barely a shred of evidence they have ever listened to those bands. ‘Singularity’ comes off more as an album resembling Creed, Nickelback, or any other toss pot that is nothing but inoffensive. This album, the band’s third, is way too slick, way too polished, way too lame to ever even be uttered alongside the likes of RATM, Nirvana and the ‘Pumpkins. Honestly, who are these clowns trying to kid. While Mae have signed onto Capitol and this is their major label debut, it’s very hard, no impossible, to ever see this being anything more than commercial FM music fodder. Even then it doesn’t deserve airplay or recognition. Each song, and there are twelve of them, are boring, lifeless, lack colour, weak, pathetic, far from bracing and authoritative, are limp and… well, just so crap it makes me angry to think they can loosely mention their influences like that. You’re not fooling anyone! Seriously, ‘Singularity’ is so bad it’s not even good for a beer coaster.
