:: Mapletons - Origami ArmyMapletonsAfter some major line-up changes Brisbane four-piece Mapletons have surfaced with a debut EP (titled ‘Origami Army’) that shows why their pop-folk sound has had them touring with the likes of The Howling Bells and Whitley. This is an amazing little EP that promises a big future for this talented foursome. The first big change to Mapletons is the inclusion of lead vocalist Anita Goldsworthy and her sweet melodic vocals capture you from the opening track, ‘Today We Play’. This is then followed up with a very beautiful summer track, ‘Seaside’… a sensational track that you will have to put on repeart. ‘Mondays’ sees Mapletons take a turn outside jazz… but it still sounds modern enough to work while the great storytelling style of songwriting on ‘New Snow’ makes for a very interesting track indeed. Goldsworthy’s vocals are again a standout on ‘The Place Where No One Knows’, while there is little wonder why ‘Gunpowder’ has been snapped up to be used in new Australian film, ‘Juicy’, it is a great track that I fell in love with straight away. Mapletons obviously have a huge career ahead of them. ‘Origami Army’ is an amazing EP that is going to quite a workout on my stereo. | http://www.myspace.com/mapletons |
