I was one who was blown away by Matt Corby’s debut EP Transition To Colour and now the artist that once wowed the serious music lovers who watched Australian Idol has done it again with one of the most beautiful EPs to drop this year, his new release Into The Flame. This stunning EP begins with the sweet harmony of ‘Brother’, a track that showcases Corby’s amazing vocal talent. It is quickly followed up by ‘Souls ‘fire’ a strong bluesy rock sound that won me over in an instant. Corby then mashes genres with ‘Untitled’ which sees him stick to the bluesy vocals but mixes it with a strong folk sound. Then comes the highlight of Into The Flame, ‘Big Eyes’, a hauntingly beautiful duet with Bree Trantee that is easily one of the best track released into 2012. If you haven’t already discovered the magic that is Matt Corby then you’ll be shocked at just how good Into The Flame really is. This is an EP that will be loved by anyone who is a fan of Josh Pyke or Angus & Julia Stone. Now I’ll sit back and countdown the days until Corby releases a full-album, because then I’ll really be in heaven.
