It has been a long time between drinks for Australian musician Michael Abboud. Back in the 1990s his debut EP received ARIA nominations. Since then Abboud has been a Chadwicks model and has performed alongside artists such as Slash, The Gypsy Kings, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Sting and Snoop Dogg… everyone would have to agree that is a good pedigree, so you would expect something special from his second EP, and he doesn’t fail to deliver. This five track EP consists of five very different sounding songs. ‘Time’ is one sweet rock song, ‘Old Man’ is dark acoustic track that turns into a busy rock song while ‘Rebel’ is a catchy rock track that will have you singing and tapping along in no time. ‘So Far Away’ is the only let down on the album. Despite its funkiness it does come across a little cheesy but you soon forget about that with ‘Emotion’ a slow track that obviously comes from the heart. Sometimes you have to wait a while for good things and that is certainly the case for Michael Abboud’s second EP. Could he be the next big thing in Australian music?
