His real name is Mica Penniman, but you will know him as Mika. He looks like he is here to stay for a while as a charismatic and impacting music star. Having already made waves in the UK charts, he has quickly gained plaudits in Australia with his “Grace Kelly” song. This album sees Mika's flamboyant nature elevate further with his incredible vocal range and the quirky style being presented on a mix of pop, pop-rock and pop-glam rock. The songs are good for dancing and very catchy. It may annoy some because those of his style that preceded him - like Freddie Mercury and Brian Connolly - weren't liked by the masses. It is worthwhile listening to some of less frenetic and energetic sounds. “My Interpretation” contains a soothing piano sound while the well-layered “Relax. Take It Easy” is an intricate sophistication to it. The dance beats are strong and the use of horns adds charm and is refreshing. The punch “Stuck In The Middle” is one of the real highlights also, with the engaging piano. Mika is a new name who has the capabilities of being at the forefront of the British pop scene for quite a while, with his innovative sense of musical character and his enthusiasm for making songs that only he can perform.
