:: Mob Rules - Ethnolution A.D.

Mob Rules

Like all good metal bands, Mob Rules come from Germany. Yet unlike their metal peers, Rammstein, Mob Rules aren’t in the screaming heavy metal stereotype. Instead they deliver a delicate line between shouting and singing, which conservative music listeners might confuse for shouting. Nevertheless, Ethnolution A.D. consists of six tracks, and is dramatically timed and sometimes even sounds a bit like opera. It’s an ambitious composition; consider the Lord of the Rings Music. Apparently, there are classical music influences in the title track. They have an apocalyptic feel, with songs like “Unholy War”, “Veil of Death and “The Last Farewell.” Assuming from the name of the band and the apocalyptic feel, it is refreshing that this song is about current events, not a lord of the rings, medieval sounding tune, which it could easily pass for, in some respects. The album is influenced by ethnological developments in the world and themes are are not light - the Middle East conflict, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the Klu Klux Klan in America are all topics that Mob Rules examine. This is their sixth album and they are loved by a very loyal metal loving international fan base. In theory, metal lovers should love this experienced band’s album, however it might also appeal to other worldly lovers of classical music, to hear it being mashed with a much heavier medium.
