:: The Modern Congress - The Hidden Soul of Harmony

The Modern Congress

This is great, why travel far and wide to latest ‘it’ bars or scavenge through the whats hot international release section when the nu-jazz / funk / latin / dub tones can be found so deliciously packaged right out of Sydney.

The Modern Congress is a studio project produced by Tim Rollinson from Directions in Groove. Tim spent 18 months ‘experimenting’ with sights and sounds in New York and whilst some of the tracks were recorded in NYC all players were either expat or travelling Australians. The sounds are reminiscent of stripped back St Germain, jamming out some good time grooves at your favourite local gathering. But just when it may seem the sound is becoming something familiar a beautifully placed Flugelhorn, Organ or Tenor Saxophone will steer the listener back to the unique jazz inspired smooth sounding dub experience. Vocals are selectively and seductively added via Tina Harrod [sounding like Jill Scott on the album opener] and Inga Liljestrom to further engage the listener.

Get your groove thing all over this album and let it ride whenever you feel like shaking and shifting into some fine time or better still when you want to impress your friends with the latest greatest hidden soul of harmony.
