:: Mosaik - Hello GoodbyeMosaikThere’s a time and a place for music that never gets in your face. In Hello Goodbye and B-side Humbled, Melbourne’s Mosaik have presented us with two rather meek pieces of music. Neither track lacks charisma nor possesses it. They are comparable neither to the gormless drunk at a party nor to the charming Adonis, but rather to the guy you never notice until, having reached that certain age, you decide to settle down and marry him. Myspace declares that “rather than dabble in superfluous sound enhancement, Mosaik rely on basic instrumentation and voice to convey their musical message,” but just what that ‘message’ is fails to come through with these two tracks. However, regardless of musical messages or charisma/lack thereof, such music is not without purpose. The production is smooth, and while they are not particularly distinctive, the vocals are strong. The a-side was, apparently, used in the final episode of Big Brother. Perhaps reality TV comprises the time and the place? |
