Nickelback

Chad Krueger and the boys return after their “Silver Side Up” breakthrough album a couple of years ago. They now present a full throttle attack in bringing lots of noise and their distinctive style to the masses. The tender, passionate vocals suit the hard rock guitars and drums in giving an apparent successful formula. This album might take a little while to bite though. The general trend is for hard, fervent songs with upbeat lyrics and energy. Highlights are “Someday”, already a hit single, “Do This Anymore”, “See You At The Show”, and “Figured You Out”. The mellow songs bring a little change in texture with guitar solos and a subtlety rarely observed. The album is strong in being clean and upfront rock and Chad is pretty confident and feisty in delivery, and definitely honest in lyrical content. The album is very good without being great. I expect things to take further shape in their next foray.
