:: Noistruct - Deathwish

Noistruct

True to its name, ‘Deathwish’ provides electronic with dark, gothic undertones. From track titles like “suicidal party” to horror-movie wind-whistling samples, the album runs with rough vocal sampless and constant rhythm changes to keep you on your toes. There's a strong hip-hop influence in this album as well, and Noistruct manages to tie the genres in neatly. This album will keep you guessing, with fast and dark tracks restlessly exploding intermittently through the predominantly mellow, if not entirely ambient, album. The heavier tracks aren't all industrial however, and mark the disjointed progression from hip-hop to pure electronic to heavy industrial. The album ends with some more experimental, but softer, tracks at the end. I'd be interested to hear this album if it was constructed to have any sense of flow to it, but Breakcore is a genre that likes to keep the listener uncomfortable. The experience is cinematic as you're swung from a tense moment to a soothing intermission again and again, keeping your heart pumping with attention-grabbing audio.

Deathwish is available here or Peril Underground in Melbourne.
