:: Norah Jones - Not Too Late (deluxe edition with bonus DVD)Norah JonesGreatness was quickly thrust upon Norah Jones after her arrival on the music scene with ‘Come Away With Me’. Her follow-up was less jazzy and somewhat dull. Her new album ‘Not Too Late’ is slightly more adventurous as Norah either writes or co-writes every song, a big leap from her first two albums. In fact, you notice a varying mood with the song ‘My Dear Country’. This shows strength of purpose in Norah directing an anti-George Bush sentiment. It‘s generally pretty smooth sailing as she almost lapses too much into a comfort zone. A couple of other highlights are the cello on the track “Broken”, which lifts the song to another gear. The soulful song 'Thinking About You’ contains horns that colour the stylish arrangement beautifully. Norah still hasn't overstretched her capabilities in terms of bringing out a stronger personality, but I sense a growing confidence and freedom to bring it about in future recordings.
