:: Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth

Oasis

Oasis is one of those bands that, despite reaching the height of popularity during the ‘90s, still continue to make impressive albums. In 'Don't Believe The Truth’ this foursome exerts all the qualities we‘ve come to know and love and, even though people will be quick to dismiss this record, it's still a handy acquisition to have in any collection. Perhaps not at the peak of their creative powers, the Gallagher brothers still know how to pen a decent tune. First single 'Lyla’ shows all the signs of comfortably fitting alongside any of their better material, with its constant back beat, Liam‘s trademark vocals and the song's straight forward style. But it's arguably their track 'The Meaning Of Soul’ which has most relevance here. It‘s a fast, snappy rock tune that resembles anything some of the more hyped rock acts are doing. Though blink and you'll miss it, as it clocks in at under 1min 45! The best thing, however – they know how to mix it up. It's rare for any two songs to sound the same throughout the album's entirety (something which is becoming a common theme on some albums). There's very little filler here and while not commanding the attention of earlier albums, 'Dont Believe The Truth’ is still a fine piece of work!
