:: OKA - Music Makes Me HappyOKAOKA combines a variety of musical styles, traditions and cultures to get a surprising and infectious sound that is full of variety, and very difficult to classify. Yadaki (didgeridoo), Turntables, Talking Drum, Darabuka, Clap Sticks, Koolaps (traditional shaker), Garamut or Lamut (traditional log drum) Warrup (traditional hand drum), Electronic Beats, Exotic Woodwinds, World Percussion and Vocals are all fused together in their rocking mix of toe tapping original beats. The Queensland group has toured through Canada, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. They have played outstanding gigs at ‘Surfing The Cold Stream Festival,’ ‘Joyfest,’ ‘Exodus’ and the ‘Woodford Folk Festival,’ and now have released a great new album called ‘Music Makes Me Happy.’ Like earlier albums ‘Elements’ and ‘Onetalk,’ ‘Music Makes Me Happy’ is an album that, given the right push, is capable of making it big on the Aussie music scene. It is a great mix of tracks, with each song quite different from the last. Yet, it also has an exiting and uplifting quality about the music that sets a positive mood. | ![]() www.oneworldmusic.com.au/releases/Oka/Oka.html |
