:: Opanoni And The Raindrops - EGBDFOpanoni And The RaindropsThis album feels and sounds like a classic Aussie gem. It‘s got a great indie groove but with a very real classic pop feel. Beautiful lush arrangements, electronic experimentation, all under the guise of a mellow pop sound greet the listener. Lyrically the album is honest and raw and touches deep within, really affecting you (a sign of a good album). Being compared to artists like Wilco, Mercury Rev and Elliot Smith, Sydney singer/songwriter Radi Safi, is to Australian music what those three artists are to any good CD collection - essential! With 12 songs that sway in the breeze, allowing the tunes to float around you, 'EGBDF’ is one fine release. His voice is sweet and with an incredible indie-pop feel, it‘s easy to see why radio has picked up on him. Hard to decide between the rocking 'The Great Escape’ or the lilting, handclapping vibe of ‘Over My Dead Body’ as to which is the best song, either way, you're bound to find plenty of great music here to get lost in. |
