This is very impressive from the Sydney beats team. The recording might be observed as something of the great UK beats exponents, but this is homegrown talent ready to shake things up. Brent Buchanan has created some eclectic work in the studio while Ben White has shown promise with his hip-hop skills. Right from the opening track, “Delicate Blue Thunder” the listener is captured by the catchy chorus and soft vocals. The melancholy, ambient vibe is felt throughout most of the tracks with the string-laden parts and dark, independent interpretations. Other tracks to note are “Anymore”, which displays the excellent vocal accompaniment of Bonnie Graham. She gives a very smooth delivery. The rolling beats of “Fire In The Whole” is another interesting track that defies the trip-hop stature of some of the other tracks. Being well produced and well crafted, it’s a promising effort that has something very tangible for even world markets. I’m sure we’ll hear much more from these guys in the future.
